In My Life...Or At Least Jayne's

If you are a regular visitor to the blog ("Oh. Are you blogging again?" one person out there says, somewhat snarkily I might add.) you know that one of my favorite things to see is when someone stumbles upon the Abigail Phelps website by searching an entertaining search term. Sometimes it's "Elvis Stojko Kennedy assassination" or something totally random like that, because let's face it - www.abbyphelps.com is the closest you come to finding what you're looking for there. Those searches amuse me no end. But then some searches make me giddy and so, so very happy!

This month, there are two such search terms which have been brought to my attention:
"figure skating, Vienna, Billy Joel" is the first. Okay...that's a very specific search there. If that's not Abby-related, then I want to read whatever OTHER book ties together those things.
And then there is the other. And this one just makes me ecstatic.
"abby phelps christopher dean"

"Yeah, so?" most of you are thinking. And that means most of you either a) haven't read the Abigail Phelps series or b) read it, but didn't care much for it. And that's okay. (Well, "b" is. "a" is unacceptable.)
But if you have read it, and if you did love it...and if you allowed yourself to get into the whole "Reality is in the eye of the beholder" thing, then you may very well be on the verge of saying, "Yeah, so?" regarding the Abby and Chris search for a very different reason. Because you may expect them to be together in a search engine.

If you haven't read the books, I can't explain it further. But if you have read the books, watch this clip. In it, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean skate to "In My Life" sung by Rebecca Ferguson. And if you get to the very end of the clip and don't, even for just one second, think "abby phelps christopher dean"...
Then you need to read the books again. You missed something.

Abby Update, From Avery

My, my...things have gotten quiet around here. I'm sure many of you are wondering what has happened. If you've read Abigail Phelps and Scenes From Highland Falls, however, I bet you have a pretty good idea. Abby asked me to let you all know that she is okay. Alec asked me to let you all know that she is definitely not okay. I decided to ignore them both and give you my take on it.

Back in November, Abby had a pretty rough go of things for a little while there. As you read in the blog, "AbbyWorld"-Abby was facing the 18th anniversary of Sergei Grinkov's death on November 20. Just a few days later would have been John Kennedy, Jr.'s 53rd birthday. Of course, that coincided with the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy's assassination and funeral, and Abby was confronted with the image of little 3-year-old John saluting his father's casket - over and over again. It was just too much.

She had been holding onto this delicate balance - "AbbyWorld" helps her heal from the pain of her real past, and yet she never seems to want to get lost in it completely. Alec, of course, is grateful for that. I strongly believe that losing herself completely in her delusional life would allow her to escape much of the pain. That week in November, it was all too much, and the balance shattered. She went back to Cedar Springs for a time, and Alec went with her, of course. And this time, there were no secrets and there were no deceptions. Alec knows Abby's true story and of course the approach to treatment was much, much different.

So, where are we now? Well, that depends on if you are living in reality or in "AbbyWorld," actually. In reality, Abby has lost a few pounds and become a blonde for a while. She's very slowly, and under my supervision, building a relationship with Sam. She meets with Alec regularly. She's writing. She watched Billy Joel on television receiving a Kennedy Center Honor and actually made a joke that it was her influence which led to Billy Joel being recognized by the Kennedy Center. But then, she made some comments about the same, and I don't think they were jokes. She goes back and forth. "Our reason coexists with our insanity," right, Billy Joel? In "AbbyWorld," things are good. She and Chris are in great shape and she's considering a few different movie offers. Oh, and she's pissed off that the Academy snubbed some of her most famous friends and didn't give them Oscar nominations this year. She may or may not have been nominated for something herself this year - that one hasn't been made clear yet.

In other words, she's fine. And by that, of course I mean Abby Phelps's version of fine. I think she'll be blogging more, so she'll be around soon. There have been a lot of questions being e-mailed in, so I think she is working on some of those answers. And I'm working on my book. Don't forget - I was only brought into Abby's life because of the book which was going to be written by Arthur Schlesinger. When Arthur died, I inherited the project. I have endless hours of conversations and letters and stories to sort, but most of it is sorted and writing has begun. What you'll get when that is done is the true story of Abigail Phelps and John Kennedy, Jr. And believe me, the true story is better than any fictional version you've heard.

Personally, I believe the deeper into "AbbyWorld" she can dive, the better. So read Abigail Phelps, Scenes From Highland Falls, and Two Thousand Years. After you've read, write a review and share with a friend. Join the Fan Page on Facebook. Keep "AbbyWorld" alive.
